Exceptional Education Program
Hands of Hope is a non-profit organization based in Walton County, Georgia. Our mission is to work collaboratively with other agencies to help enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities and exceptional needs. Walton County Georgia has only a few public schools that educate exceptional needs students from ages 3 to 21. There are currently 1,374 students in the Walton County School District receiving special education services. To meet their needs, the district employs over 200 special education teachers, therapists, and paraprofessionals The county does an excellent job ensuring these students have the education and related therapy services they need. However, as school funding is often reduced, these students who need additional environments to promote stimulating learning and inclusion, are often not funded. Therefore, Hands of Hope Walton County has created the Exceptional Education Program. This program will be a fundraising program to ensure that all students in Walton County have everything they need to be successful in the classroom, and our exceptional needs students are no exception. We are reaching out to businesses and local families to donate therapeutic sensory items for our exceptional needs students such as fidgets, water beads, kinetic sand, concentration rockers, as well as classroom supplies.
